How to prompt Dear Lucy's AI Tile Builder (Beta)?

Dear Lucy's AI Tile Builder is available to Beta users. It enables users to build DIY tiles (number tiles, charts and tables) from scratch. With simple prompts (questions, in other words), the AI tile builder will generate a chart and a table showing the numbers or values you're looking for. It's designed to answer with numbers or values, and will not provide answers in a text-based format.

Any prompt will result in a chart, with an underlying drill-down table, showing the data (most often the sales opportunities) behind the aggregate number or value. This will allow the user to validate the data and whether the prompt generated the correct answer.

Writing prompts

To achieve the best results when using AI Tile Builder, it's essential to provide clear, structured, and detailed prompts. The more detailed and specific the prompt, the better the results are likely to be and the more likely it is that the AI answers the "right" question. Below we list a few guidelines on how to write good prompts to Dear Lucy's AI tile builder.

A good prompt should include at least 3 specific variables: Time, Metric, Segmentation

1. Specify the Time Frame

It is important to clearly defined the time period for which you would like to retrieve data. For example:

• "For the year 2024..."
• "From January 2024 to March 2024..."
• "In the last month..."
• "In June 2024"
• "From the first quarter this year..."

2. Define the Metrics

Define as clearly as possible what type of data you are interested in, and how you would like it calculated. A metric is typically a quantifiable measure such as count, sum, average, etc. In other words, if you're looking for the sales results for last month, it might be good to prompt something like: "Sum of all closed won opportunities last month". Other examples:

• "Total sales..."
• "Average order value..."
• "Number of new customers..."

3. Specify the segmentation / split

Define how you want the data to be segmented / broken down. This could be on a daily, weekly monthly, yearly basis, or even overall. You may also include dimensions into the breakdown. The AI will try to stack the chart if dimensions are included into the breakdown. For example:

• "Daily breakdown of won deals..."
• "Monthly total sales..."
• "...broken down by month and product category..."
• "...broken down by quarter and sales person"

Additionally: Be Specific and Clear, and avoid overloading the prompt

Avoid ambiguity in your prompts. Be as specific as possible about what you want to retrieve and show. While it's important to include details, avoid adding too many conditions and requirements into a single prompt.

Prompt is a form of text or the question you would like to get the answer to. 

Segmentation & Breakdown

In this context, breakdown means how the results will be segmented or split. Break down can be a dimension (such as sales person or a team for example), time period (day, month, quarter, year) or a combination of dimension and time period.

Metric

Metrics are typically quantifiable measures like counts, sums, averages, etc. Metrics are the numeric values you want to show in the tile. 

Dimension

Dimensions are textual values you can include to tile. For example sales person, sales team and/or product name are dimensions. 

Time period

Time period defines the time range from which you want the data to be included in your tile. Time period can be defined for example in years, months, weeks or as absolute dates. See prompt examples for more info.

• “How many calls have each sales person made since the start of the year?”
